How to use
- Enter how many days you will hike. A half day is 0.5 if that matches the plan.
- Enter the miles you expect on a full day. If a half day is in the day count, this daily mileage still applies to every day you typed, so split the trip if the short day is much shorter.
- Press Calculate. The hero is miles.
- A zero-mile town day should be left out of the day count.
How it's calculated
Miles = days × miles per day.
There is no rest-day deduction and no elevation adjustment. If two days differ, run them separately and add the miles.
Worked example
Five days at 12 miles a day is 60 miles. Four full days at 12 and one half day at 12, entered as 4.5 days, is 54 miles. If that half day is only 6 miles, enter 4 × 12 and add 6 yourself: 54 is the wrong shortcut for a shorter half day.
Assumptions
The same daily mileage for every day in the count. Rest days, summit days, and a short last day are separate arithmetic. The page will not taper the week.
FAQ
How is this different from the mileage build?
The build multiplies each week by a percent. This page keeps the daily mileage constant.
Should I include a rest day?
Only if you will walk that day. A zero-mile day adds nothing, so leave it out.
Can I enter kilometers?
The label says miles. If you type kilometers and read the result as kilometers, the multiplication still works, but do not mix the units.
Where does pace fit?
After you have a distance. The pace calculator turns distance and pace into time.
